A cold, cold start to the year

This photograph was taken from exactly the same location as the first picture in this blog, just 9 months before. January 2nd 2011. It was a very cold morning. The temperature was about -10 degrees Celsius. The cold causing steam to rise off the water of Lake Superior making the boat look like its floating on a cloud. I love this picture.

Taken from the lakefront walk in Duluth, MN at about 7.15 am in the morning. A calm lake, faint suggestions of reflections of the ship and pier in the water. A lovely calm serene scene.
